The costal areas of Tamilnadu state,India, took the worst battering from cyclone Thane.
The fishing hamlets were worst affected, with fishing boats, nets, and houses partially/totally destroyed. Flood waters entered agricultural lands, rendering them useless for forther farming.
The worst plight was of the poor people, who live in huts on the embarkment of the shore.Their houses were totally destroyed, and had to be evacuvated to nearby schools, where meals were doled out by NGOs and the residents.
