Camden Council is committed to reducing CO2 emissions and improving the air quality in the borough. Air pollution in some parts of the borough is poor, with NOx and PM emissions exceeding national and EU objectives. This is due largely to the large volumes of traffic that crosses the borough on a daily basis. Air pollution is linked to health issues including asthma and lung disease and children and older people are particularly vulnerable.
The electric vehicle test drive event was just one way that the Council is promoting electric vehicles and sustainable transport.
Camden has put in place the infrastructure to encourage our residents and businesses to make the switch to electric vehicles (EVs). EVs have no tail pipe emissions and so do not impact upon local air pollution. We currently have 27 on street electric charging points, an electric vehicle car club, reduced rate parking permits for residents who drive EVs and we are offering businesses free two week trials of electric vehicles.

Thats good to see a council being proactive rather than reactive., However, how many people can realistically afford the current price tag of most electric vehicles though. For me diesel would need to double in price before I consider it mainly due to financial reasons.
Wow! This is what all the cities in America should do. Here in China most cities use Natural Gas in Buses and Taxis and many cars. There are some taxis too in Shenzhen that are Electric. They are doing some things also in Beijing and Shanghai I think too.
Cool!! Way to go Camden!!
One way to also help is to make it possible to license DIY cars that are electric. Or order your car from China. I can set you up!!
